15 seasons coaching at San Diego State. 13 as Associate Head Coach. And now heading in to her 3rd year as Head Coach of this program: Coach Stacey Nuveman Deniz— three-time Olympian, multi-record holder, and former National Champion— has already led her team to making history. In only year 2. San Diego got to experience what it has never experienced before through the game of softball by getting to watch her team in the NCAA Division 1 super regional last year… and while I am absolutely proud of them- it’s also not why I’m here. I didn’t show up to the field because this program is winning. I showed up for the culture. Because I believe the W’s were only teed up as a result.

What Coach Nuveman Deniz is building through her culture as the head coach of San Diego State softball, is special. It’s a program that has a vision for a purpose that is less about softball than you may think coming from one of the best players to have ever played the game. And it’s a program, and conversation, that we will all benefit from pausing and paying attention to.
