GAME DAY

GAME DAY

Downtown, San Diego

Home isn’t always easy to build. And on this Game Day, I’m extremely grateful for the leaders who have dedicated their lives to building spaces that allow other’s to have one— be it for a brief equipping moment, or for a ‘stay a while’ purpose.

Timmy’s Place Pizzeria is serving the San Diego community with delicious culinary joy (pizza, i’m speaking for everyone: we love you)— but that’s only a slice of what makes them special. Turns out some of our biggest baseball fans build businesses that also dare to change the world while they’re at it. And by change the world, I mean… one life at a time. Right here in our community. With employees who are overcoming homelessness and looking for the opportunity to grow their job market & life skills… making pizza just got a lot more purposeful.

What you won’t hear in this episode is my conversation with Eric, the founder of the organization Urban Street Angels, which houses the youth that work at Timmy’s Place. When he shared that his mission was to end youth homelessness, he said this:

”I really felt like God had given me a personal calling to do something. So that’s what I did.”

Beginning with housing 8 homeless youth in his own home in 2012, to now building an organization that hosts 140 beds across San Diego, you can say that he stuck to his original conviction to do something.🤍
At the bottom of this page you can find journal prompts that bring you closer to your own personal calling in life that makes a difference-- like Eric and the rest of the leaders at Timmy’s & the Lucky Duck Foundation have.

🍕 But first, meet the studly team:

Jasmine: She’ll greet you with the warmest welcome and definitely remember your usual order when you become a repeat customer

Zantiago: He’ll share his Columbian culture and teach you to dance (ask him his favorite baseball team— he’s got a few)

& thee Chef Eddie: He’ll be busy holding down the fort while teaching his culinary skills and passion to the next generation like the pro he is.

Dream team if you ask us.

Pregame lunch, anyone?

Journal Prompts to Find Your Own Calling
That Makes A Difference:

  1. What breaks your heart? Additionally, what makes you mad to see in the world or not see in the world?

2. What brings you JOY? There is so. much. easy purpose to be found in the places that you’re your happiest and just automatically your best self. Do not
ignore that!

3. If you looked at your life from a zoomed out perspective… what would you see? Can you see a vision for your self? Picture yourself in the future and ask yourself this: Who are you being? Who are you with? What are you doing?
